Watch: Forza Horizon 6 comes to PS5 on 26 January 2027

Forza Horizon 6 finally has a PlayStation 5 date. Playground Games announced on 8 October that the PS5 version launches on 26 January 2027, the same week its first paid expansion arrives on every platform. The Japan-set open-world racer has been out on Xbox Series X|S and PC since 19 May 2026.

What was announced

  • PS5 release: 26 January 2027 for the Standard and Deluxe editions, digital and on disc. Pre-orders are open on the PlayStation Store.
  • Early access: Premium Edition owners, and anyone who buys the Premium Upgrade, can start on 21 January, five days early.
  • Expansion 1: the first premium expansion launches on 21 January 2027 on all platforms. It has no name or standalone price yet. A second expansion is planned for a later, undated release.
  • Free update: a free content update for all players lands alongside the expansion and the PS5 launch.
  • Cross-play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions, including player-made content.

The port is by Panic Button, which also brought Forza Horizon 5 to PS5, and offers a 4K/30fps Quality mode and a 60fps Performance mode. VGC notes the PS5 version had previously been slated for 2026, so this is a slip into the new year.

What it means for buyers

PS5 owners now have a firm date. If you want the disc, Push Square points out a catch: the Xbox version takes up almost 150GB, more than a single PS5 disc holds, so expect a big download even with a boxed copy.

Xbox and PC players should decide on the expansions before choosing an edition. Expansion 1 comes with the Premium Edition, the Premium Upgrade and the Expansions Bundle, or can be bought on its own. The game is also in Game Pass. Note that add-ons follow the store your copy lives on: the Expansions Bundle we track is a Steam item, so it pairs with the Steam version, not a Microsoft Store key.

Prices on GCG

PC prices in Ireland, on 12 October 2026 (they change daily):

On Steam, Standard plus the Expansions Bundle costs €119.98, a cent less than the Premium Edition, which includes both planned expansions plus VIP Membership, the Welcome Pack, the Car Pass and two car packs. So if you want the expansions on Steam, Premium is the better value; for the base game alone, the Microsoft Store key is the cheapest route we track today. We do not list PS5 prices for this game. Kinguin's price excludes the service fee the marketplace adds at checkout; see how we rank offers.

What to watch next

  • Expansion details: Playground says more on the expansion and the free update will come closer to release.
  • Post-launch support: on 6 October Playground answered complaints about thin updates, admitting it had not communicated enough and saying it is looking into changes. A City Life-themed update is next.
  • PS5 reviews around launch in late January, which will show how well Panic Button's port holds up.
